ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A comedy festival, a new art walk and a long-running sunrise service are all on the docket this weekend in WNC.

Friday, April 3

Stroll through the East West Asheville Art Walk – 5-8 p.m., Lamplight AVL, 2 Westwood Pl.

Lamplight AVL has organized a brand-new First Friday art walk for the eastern half of West Asheville. 12 local businesses will open their doors to the public for an evening of artwork, music and community. Find more information here.

Watch “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” – Now playing in theaters

“Ready or Not 2,” starring modern scream queens Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton, is a funny, bloody, rollicking ride. Weaving is once again tasked with playing a deadly game of hide-and-seek with a family of devil-worshiping cultists, but this time around is even better than the 2019 original. Read our review here.

Attend a book signing with Chai Pani co-founder Molly Irani – 2-4 p.m., The Hop Ice Cream Café, 640 Merrimon Ave.

It’s a crossover for iconic Asheville businesses this weekend. Malaprop’s Bookstore has organized a book signing with Molly Irani, co-founder of Chai Pani and author of “Service Ready: A Story of Love, Restaurants, and the Power of Hospitality,” at The Hop Ice Cream Café. Copies of Irani’s book and scoops of ice cream will both be for sale. The free event is open to the public. Find more information here.

Admire local artwork at the Southern Highland Craft Guild’s Glass, Metal and Clay Day – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Folk Art Center, Milepost 382, Blue Ridge Parkway

Visitors are invited to the Folk Art Center this weekend for the first Southern Highland Craft Guild educational event of the year. Craftspeople in the disciplines of glass, metal and clay will be giving demonstrations of artisan skills like blacksmithing, glass blowing, knife making, forging, wheel throwing and more. Have a chuckle at the Asheville Comedy Festival Spring Laugh Invasion – 7 p.m., Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, 18 Biltmore Ave.

Go see one-woman show “Natural Shocks” – 2 p.m., The BeBe Theatre, 20 Commerce St.

Nemesis Theatre Company, a local troupe known for creative Shakespeare adaptations, is now staging their first show produced under a new contemporary works banner, ArchNemesis. “Natural Shocks,” a one-woman show by Lauren Gunderson, is about a statistics-obsessed insurance agent named Angela trapped in her basement during a storm. Celebrate at the 70th Annual Chimney Rock Easter Sunrise Service – 5:30-7:15 a.m., Chimney Rock State Park

Chimney Rock State Park will greet sunrise on Easter Sunday for the 70th year this weekend. The nondenominational service will be filled with song and scripture over Lake Lure. The event is free to the public. Find more information here.
