RAD gets romantic with Art Lover’s Stroll event

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The River Arts District will host several Valentine’s Day festivities this weekend at the Art Lover’s Stroll, the latest event in the Second Saturday Art Stroll series.

Art Lover’s Stroll will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14 across the RAD. The event is free and open to the public, though some studios may have a fee for special workshops or activities.

Art for lovers or for the love of art

There will be several art activities to partake in with a partner at the Art Lover’s Stroll.

RAD Rendezvous will celebrate Second Saturday with their “Indulgence Day” event, with over 50 artists slated to appear from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the 87 Roberts St. artist hub. Plus, cartoonist Taryn Cozzy will be drawing free caricatures portraits from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a photo booth will be onsite for cute Valentine’s pictures.

Speaking of photos, Asheville photographer Parker Pfister invites registration for an intimate Valentine’s Day portrait session from 5-10 p.m. at The Radical Asheville, 95 Roberts St. The black and white silver gelatin photographs will be created with an 8×10 wooden camera, ready to view digitally on Feb. 15 and delivered physically by Feb. 21. The sessions, typically $1500, will cost $250 during the event. Book a session here.

If you and your partner want to get a little more hands-on with your portraits, Trackside Studios will be offering a Paint Your Partner workshop from 3-5 p.m. at their 375 Depot St. gallery. For $65 per partner pair, all painting supplies will be provided. Book a spot here.

The fiber goods retailer Local Cloth will host a Valentine’s Day Make + Take event from noon to 4 p.m. at their 408 Depot St. shop. The public is invited to create their own handmade fiber project, free to take home afterward.

Several other studios will be offering sweets and drinks during the event.
