ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville’s own Alair Homes–Red Tree, led by President and Partner Brandon Bryant, was featured on Matt Risinger’s nationally acclaimed Build Show as part of its Build Across America series. The episode, which aired Sunday, Sept. 21, highlighted Bryant’s forward-thinking approach to climate-resilient, wellness-focused homebuilding in Western North Carolina.

The Build Show, founded by master builder and YouTube powerhouse Matt Risinger, is one of the most influential platforms in the construction and building science space. With more than 1.19 million subscribers, 286 million views, and a vast following across social media and podcasts, the Build Show Network reaches millions of builders, architects, and homeowners seeking to push the industry forward.

“Our Build Across America series is about spotlighting the best builders in the country who are tackling unique regional challenges with innovation and craftsmanship,” Risinger said in a news release. “Brandon and the Alair Homes–Red Tree team exemplify what it means to build smarter, healthier, and more resilient homes. The work they’re doing in Western North Carolina is an inspiring example for builders everywhere.”

“Matt and his team could have chosen anywhere in the country, and we’re honored they came here,” Bryant said in the release. “Building in Western North Carolina is unlike anywhere else – steep slopes, shifting landscapes, and four distinct seasons – and it requires solutions that are both deeply rooted in place and designed for the future. Our mission is to create homes that last generations, improve human health, and respect the land.”

Building for the future in Western North Carolina

Bryant, born and raised in WNC, has spent two decades shaping the region’s homebuilding landscape. As a Master Certified Green Professional and six-time International Builders’ Show speaker, he is known nationally for championing “Wellness Architecture” and what his firm calls “rebel luxury” – climate-resilient, eco-luxury homes that balance performance, longevity, and comfort.

The Build Show episode spotlighted two projects:

  • A mountainside home under construction, showcasing Red Tree’s “non-negotiables” for sensible, efficient building on challenging terrain. This project highlights advanced framing, indoor air quality strategies, and innovative foundation work suited to steep slopes.
  • A finished home in the Olivette Farm-to-Table Community, a DOE Net Zero Energy Ready home that is fully electric, net-positive, and designed in harmony with its environment. Despite Hurricane Helene’s devastation, the home weathered the storm – a testament to the team’s site planning, water management, and collaboration with architects and landscape designers.

Resilience in the face of change

The episode comes at a pivotal time for Western North Carolina, where Tropical Storm Helene recently brought 100 mph winds, massive river re-routing, and forest devastation across 820,000 acres. Bryant believes the lessons from the storm underscore why the industry must embrace resilience and foresight.

“As builders, we often say ‘the land will tell us what to build,’” Bryant shared. “Helene redrew the landscape here. Just like our communities, our homes must be resilient, responsive, and built to stand the test of time.”
