ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Public voting is underway for the 2026 Best of Asheville awards, giving residents a chance to recognize local businesses, organizations and community leaders across more than 200 categories.

The public was invited to nominate favorite businesses, places and organizations during an open nomination period from May 20 through June 10. This year’s ballot includes 1,826 unique businesses and individuals, up 32.3% from 1,380 in 2025.

Voting opened Wednesday, June 17, and continues through 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 1. Voters may submit one ballot per day at BestOfAVL.com.

The annual awards program highlights businesses and organizations across the Asheville area, with categories covering food and drink, retail, health care, education, arts, nonprofits, professional services and other areas of community life.

For many local businesses, a Best of Asheville win can serve as a visible sign of customer support. The recognition can help introduce businesses to new customers, strengthen word-of-mouth referrals and give longtime supporters a way to show appreciation.

The contest is presented by Asheville Media Group, the parent company of 828newsNOW, in partnership with Lusso Realty.

Winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 23.
